Newtown Creek Community Advisory Group (CAG)

The Newtown Creek CAG represents the interests of local communities and stakeholders throughout the Superfund cleanup process. The group meets monthly, receives direct updates from EPA Region 2, and provides input, feedback, and concerns that help shape cleanup decisions. Anyone from the public can attend meetings or join working groups.

These advisories explain which fish are safe to eat, which should be avoided, and special guidance for children and people who are pregnant.

Volunteer with the Newtown Creek Alliance

Residents can participate directly in on-the-ground environmental improvements. Events include shoreline cleanups, invasive plant removal, native planting days, and habitat restoration activities that naturally improve water quality.

Report Pollution & Water Quality Issues

If you see oil sheens, unusual odors, illegal dumping, or sewage overflows: Call 311 Public reports create official records that pressure agencies to investigate and respond more quickly.
