01 — Overview

About the project

Domino Youth Philanthropy introduced our team to social entrepreneurship: using sustainable and creative approaches to address social needs beyond direct financial aid.

We researched different social issues, reviewed proposals from nonprofit organizations, and created videos to raise awareness and funding for their work.

For my contribution, I produced a frame-by-frame animated video explaining social entrepreneurship. It was my first time working with this animation method, and the technical limitations forced me to simplify several early ideas. Even so, the final video helped me raise 4,800 CNY.

02 — Site Visits

Researching organizations through site visits

A major part of the project involved learning directly from different organizations before deciding where the funding should go.

Team members visited several sites to understand:

  • Each organization's mission
  • The communities it served
  • How its programs operated
  • The type of support it needed
  • Where our fundraising could have the greatest impact

This process helped us move beyond simply reading proposals. It gave the team a clearer understanding of each organization's work and allowed us to make a more informed funding decision.

03 — Visual Storytelling

Visual storytelling for youth mental health

As part of the broader site-visit documentation, I created a short comic about an organization called Healing Cat.

The comic recorded the experience in a lighter and more approachable format. Its goal was to help more people learn about the organization and bring greater attention to youth mental health.

The comic was later published through Domino's official account.

04 — Supporting Ensan

After reviewing proposals and considering the site visits, our team selected the Ensan National Culture Dissemination Center.

The organization supports people with disabilities by teaching skills connected to intangible cultural heritage, helping participants develop pathways toward employment.

As a ten-person team, we raised a total of 21,380 CNY, which was donated to Ensan to support its programs.

05 — Reflection

Reflection

This project was an early lesson in using visual storytelling for social impact.

It showed me that creative work can do more than explain an issue. It can make unfamiliar causes easier to understand, bring attention to overlooked communities, and encourage people to contribute.

The project also taught me the value of researching organizations before offering support. Understanding their missions, methods, and needs made the fundraising process feel more thoughtful and grounded.
